(special to "the γ-bess.")

DUNEDIN, December 8. Tahuna Park is no longer a mounted men's camp. Tho 6trengtn was reduced some days ago, and this morning Su]>erintendent Dvryer went out and paid off tho remainder. The men are finally discharged. They are still, however, special constables, and the superintendent has drawn up a mobilisation scheme by means of which a force over 100 strong could be assembled for. duty at an hour's notice or less, but in the present state of affairs it is not considered necessary to keep the mounted men on eervice, and they were to-day allowed to leave for their homes. The preservation of the peace in and about Dunedin is now entirely left to the regular police, between whom and the public at large there has been tho best possible understanding during the restless days.

Despite opposition, the miners at Kaitangata are still adhering to the resolution to make a levy of 10 per cent, for the Huntly women and children, and a good many payments of contributions were mado on Saturday evening. Tho union have had legal advice, which is to the effect that every penny of tho-levy can be recovered in Court.

At a mass meeting of strikers yesterday a motion was carried trusting that "in the interests of honour, happiness, and prosperity, the Employers' Federation, without further parley, will accede to the suggestion to place the matter in the hands of Mr Justice Williams."

The shipping companies report that there, is ample labour for loading and discharging operations, but it will be more difficult to obtain seamen and firemen when the occasion arises.
