THE MEDITERRANEAN.
SUGGESTED ANGLO-AUSTRIAN COMPACT. (Received December 9th, 12.25 a.m.) "VIENNA, December 8. A striking article in the"Neves Wiener Tagoblatt" suggests that a convention be fixed for a number of years of benevolent neutrality between Britain and Austria-Hungary in the event of any Mediterranean .conflict. It adds that; the Austro-Hungarian Navy will soon equal the British in the Mediterranean, hence an agreement could be based on equal mutual value. AustriaHnugary's maritime interests would consist of guaranteeing the safety of the Adriatic with free passage through the Straits.
