AMBERLEY.
Amberley was en fete on Saturday evening, the occasion being a visit from Christchurch of the combined Druids' lodges. The large number of visiting Druids were accompanied by a brass band and an orchestra (arranged by Mr A. E. Willyams). The half-yearly meeting of the local Druids' lodge was held early in the evening, Sister A. Duncan presiding, and the usual business was transacted. Congratulations were extended to the lodge officers on tho manner in which they had conducted the business. PlG.P.'s Bros. Swinnerton, Batlev, and Ives, V.G.P. Bro. W. J: W. Noate and P.A. Bro. Rhodes all spoke on the work of the Order. Bro. Swinnerton received an ovation when he-announced that he had been present on the opening night of the Aml>erley Ledge over thirty years ago. Following the closing of the lodge, the brethren assembled outside the Oddfellows' Hall for the __ purpose of holding a torchlight procession. .Tended by the band, the procession threaded its way through the main thoroughfares of the town and was watched by a very large crowd of people.- The procession finished at the hall," a social evening was spent, Bro. Batley presiding, many toasts were honoured, and a lengthy programme wis carried out. A church parade.was held on Sunday at the Anglican Church.
