RICCARTON DOMAIN CLUB.

OPENING OF THE COURTS. There was a very large gathering at the Riccarton Domain on Saturday afternoon, when the local club'e new tennis courts were officially opened. The president, Mr J. C. Chase, congratulated tie residents of the district on possessing such a fine domain and the members of the tennis club in particular in being in possession of euch very fino courts. The people of Riccarton had shown commendable enterprise in entering for the sport-loving community *nd had contributed generously to the project. A great deal of credit was due to their energetic secretary, Mt A. Biggs, who hnd spared neither time nor expense in tho intereets of the club. Mrs Biggs then sent down the first ball and the courts were declared officially opened. Afternoon tea was handed round by the lady members of the club and music was provided by Derry's private band. Tennis wae played for the remainder of the afternoon, amongst those taking part being representatives from the Paparoa, Prebbleton, Riccarton, Recreation, Halswoll, and Addington Tennie Club*.
