AT GREYMOUTH.
PREPARING TO RIS-OIEV TIIE PORT. "FULL UP OF RED FED. TYRANNY." (■PECIiX TO "WOB PRESS.") GREYMOUTH, December 5. Preparations are quietly proceeding towards the re-opening of the Port of Greymoufch. It is understood that the first ship to bo dealt with will be a vessel of the class which will take a full cargo of timber. A meeting of citizens held this afternoon was largely attended. It was resolved to invite the steamship • companies to send vessels to Greymouth, the citizens guaranteeing to find labour. Disgusted at not being able to work, many sawmill hands on the West Coast are seeking fresh fields and paetures new. During the past week there has been quite an exodus of this splendid class of men to Christohurch, where they will accept any work offering. "I am not going to see the missus and kiddies starving," was the explanation offered to a "Star" reporter by one man who declared that if an attempt were made to re-open the Port of Greymouth, hundreds of mill hands would come in and lend a helping hand.
