GRAND THEATRE.
The new programme at tho Grand Theatre yesterday was featured by an exciting railway drama entitled, "A Hero Among Men." Edith, tho daughter of the director of the Imperial Arms Company, has to leave home and her fiance, to go into the country to recuperate after an illness, and while away, she meets George Morris. Morris is a smart fellow, and the pair are mutually attracted. Edith rejects his advances,, remembering her betrothal, and telling' him she is engaged. Morris- secures a position in the Imperial Arms ConVnany,,and is.surprised when he meets Edith, and learns her father is his employer. Tho men at the works strike for higher pay, and George Morris sympathises with them. While the directors are having a meeting, they become aware that the ppwdeT room is on fire, and all run for safety. Morris carries the manaacine director out the open, leaving. Edith, who had come to warn her father of the approach of the strikers, in the care of her fiance. He, however, fear-stricken, leaves her and saves hTmself. Morris dashes bravely back into the burning building, despite the exolosion, and, making his way through"the burning passa.es. finds "ie girl be loves, and brings her out safely. The natural result of the actions of the two men is that George Morris is given the hand of Edith, wh'le h-r fmrrf*' is spumed. Several good supporting films were also shown.
