Shearing operations all" over the Peninsula are being greatly hampered by almost daily rains, whilst from some portions of the district a heavy mortality among the shorn flocks, as the result of .cold winds and inclement weather, is reported: The Waitaha Cheese Factory, the sixth dairy lactory in the Westlana County, was successfully opened on Wednesday by the chairman of the County Council, Mr Ferguson. A large assemblage was present. The factory has.very promising prospects. . The manager of the Ashburton Dairy Factory Company, Limited, received word yesterday that all the company's butter had been cleared from the cool stores at Lyttelton and -hipped, the Rimutaka taking 2100 boxes and the Corinthic 600 boxes. The value of the two shipments is estimated at £7550. In consequence of tnis suppliers will receive their cheques on Saturday.
