ABBIVAL OF AMERICAN TEAM.'

(PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, December 4. The members of the American athletic team to tour Now Zealand and Australia arrived by tho Tahiti to-day from San Francisco. Tiie team consists of four men, R. Templeton (Stanford University), who holds the world's .record for the 75yds hurdles; J. Power (.Boston), middle distance runner, whose time for tho mile is given as -train lis 4-ssoc; W. Oanghey. a youth, wlio is champion of the Pacific Coast; aad G. Parker (Stockton), a sprinter, who takes the placo of Rossinbergor, who was unable to make the trip at the last moment.

Major Peixotto, who toured New Zealand some time ago in charge of a contingent of American schoolboys, is manager of the team, and he has arranged to deliver lectures during the tour.

This afternoon the team wero formally welcomed to the city by the Mayor at the Town Hall, and to-mor-row they will bo entertained at dimier by the New Zealand Athletic Association. On Saturday the Americans will go to the Waikanao meeting, where thoy will take part in some events so as to get the stiffness out of their legs.
