PRESS COMMENTS.
Tbe Sydney "Morning Herald," commenting on tbe attitude of the turbulent element, says :•— "While unionists have decided to restrict tbe area of disturbance, tho future is by no means clear." Commenting on tbe Conference's decision, the "Herald" says:—"The Federation of Labour was established
in order to crush tho principle of peaceful arbitrament in industrial disputes, and it is this attitude which is fraught with such disaster to the community which New Zealand employers have partially fought with success, and still resist. It is this which Mr Hughes and his colleagues are encouraging in a decision to which they stood sponsors." The "Daily Telegraph" says*—"The strike has reached and passed the stage at which the Government can bo reasonably tfppealed to by the community for guidance and protection. We are presented with the remarkable spectaclo of a Government supine and nerveless, while a self-constituted Parliament of unionists discusses whether there shall be a general cr only a partial strike."
