ASHBURTON.

At the meeting of the Ashburton High School Board yesterday, tho chairman (Mx J. Tucker) referred to the passing away of the late Mr Matthew Stitt, who had represented tho Couaiy Council on the High School Board for over t«n years, and who had carried ««t his duties in a most faithful manner. He moved:—"That this Board expresses ite deep sympathy with the family of the late Matthew Stitt at the demise of the said gentleman, who for many was an active member of the Board and who always took an intelligent interest in the welfare and progress of the Ashburton High School." The motion was carried, tho members standing in silence.
