JOTTINGS FOR FARMERS.

The winners of the two classes at the Banks Peninsula A. and P. Show which were judged by the public, were —Class J, Draught Horses: H. C. O'Leary. S. D. Boyce's Banner won Mr O.Biadley'e prize of £10 for the best hack, polling 83 votes.

At the Palermo Live Stock Show, Mr Ernest St. C. Haydon, son- of the late Mr Joseph. Haydon, who ia now settled in tho Argentine, was a successful exhibitor of Romney March and Shropshire sheep. In the former breed ho received third prize and honourable mention in rams and was first in ewes and wethers, and in Shropshires he was second in two-tooth rams. The sheep at this show are all shown in pens of three. Mr Haydon sent a pep.o» Corriednles to the show for exhibition only. The "Buenos Ayres Herald" says that a class for this breed is to be established at tho 1914 Palermo show. It is further stated that the New Zealand Comedalo breeders are arranging to present a challenge cup for thfrbest pen of three rams.

A meeting of the general committee of the Ashburton A. and P. Association was held yesterday, the president (Mr A. Drumujond) in the chair. Prior to the ordinary business being taken, the Chairman referred to the death of Mr Matthew Stitt_. and moved:—"That this meeting places on record its appreciation oi the valuable services rendered to the Aehburton County by the late Mr Matthew Stitt. one of the pioneers of Ashburton, and one who had been for many years a loyal supporter of the Association, alike as a president, judge, and donor of special prizes, and that the mooting convey to his relatives its sincere eympatliy with them in their bereavement." The motion was seconded by Mr W*. Moses, and carried, the memhers standing. On the motion of Mr J. Cow, seconded by Mr l>: U. Wright, it was decided that at the Autumn Show there should be two judges in the femalo sections and two judges in the male sections in draught horses. Mr W. Jamieson, of Dromore, wrote, forwarding two sums of three guineas as special prizes in the draught horse sections.
