NOTES.

Nominations for the Greymouth Jockey Club's Midsummer Meeting close to-morrow evening. Nominations for the Greymouth Trotting Club's Summer Meeting close this evening. Canute, who has been spelling for some time past, has again joined the active brigade. . . E, Scouliar has again recommissioned Cosy Corner, who had been indulged in a lengthy spell. It is moro than probablo that ltEmerson will journey to Greymouth at Christmas time with. Nithsdale and Forest Belle. Such a useful pair should pay their way on the Coast. If Mr J. B. Reid decides on competing at the Auckland Racing Club's Meeting, his representatives will be Rinaldo, Mowbray, Salzburg, and the two-year-old filly Charmilla. Ceo. Murray Aynsley's stable will be represented by Query and Bee at the Ihincdin Meeting at Christmas time. The latter is a two-year-old filly by Martian from that useful mare Lady Disdain. During the progress of tho South Canterbury Jockey Club's Spring Meeting, Mr J. B. Reid sold Speedometer, Ngatapa, and Crib. Ngatapa and Crib were sold to an Australian buyer.

■T. Sheenan had the misfortune to lose a nice .filly foal by • Nautiform — Antigone one day last week. • Mr .Wire Tokena will shortly, bo increasing his team' in work at Fordell. The new-comers will be a two-year-old full-brother to Postillion, by AdvanceBrown Spec, which is a very promising black gelding, and a two-year-old chestnut gelding by Golden Gate-— Tutuhiont of Singer, from Sing Song by Louis d'Or. The three-year-old .Salzburg yvas responsible for somo little excitement early on Saturday morning. When doing a gallop on the plough track, tho saddle slipped, and the colt very quickly got rid of his rider. After galloping a short distance, the saddle was hanging about Salzburg's flanks, and this naturally frightened him and made him go all tho faster. On . coming to the crossing, where several trainers wero standing, he charged into the veteran E. Cutts, jumped the two fences on the course proper, went a round of the walking ring at a good gallop, and afterwards cantered home, to Murray Hobbs's stables, without sustaining any injury. E. Cutts, who was unfortunate enough to get in the way of the colt during his mad career, received what appeared to bo. a nasty fall, but beyond a slight injury to his leg and a bad shaking, he sustained no injury, and was on the course again yesterday morning. Salzburg appears to have suffered little as a result of his escapade, and his connexions must coneider themselves lucky that the colt showed such good jumping ability when he essayed the task of clearing the two fences.
