THREE MEN IN A CART.
SEQUEL TO "JOY RIDE."
On Saturday last three men, while j in a state of drunkenness, seized a horse and cart, and drove furiously along the Lincoln road. They had so little control over the horse that they careered along the footpaths, to the danger of women and children. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., Martin Joyce, Charles Hodder, and Peter Murphy appeared on charges oon*** netted with their little "joy ride." Senior-Sergeant Mathieson prosecuted, and said that the men had been arrested by Constable Pratt, who had witnessed the escapade. The accused Hodder was fined 20s, in default seven days' imprisonment for being drunk while in charge of a norse and cart, -was convicted and discharged for. furious driving, but fined a further 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, for driving on the footpath. Joyce, an old offender, with a bad record, was eentenoed to fourteen day-' hard labour on a charge of drunkenness, _n_ Murphy, on a similar charge, was fined Ids, in default 48 hours' imprisonment.
