Miss Gertrude Benham crossed Africa afoot, starting at Forcados, at tho mouth of the Niger, in Ootober, passing Lake Nyanza, and finishing at Domba. • ■ ' Her companions were a oook boy and seven porter.. She was absolutely, unarmed, but except for a few worries with porters, she experienced no annoyance of any sort, and remained freo from fever.
