.__- SO_H .__S „___« DISTURBANCE.

A SERIOUS INCIDENT.

(By Cabla.—Presa Aasociation .—Copyright.. (Received November 30th, 5.0 p-m.) SYDNEY, November 3D. A serious incident occurred l--"t night at a military camp near Liverpool. The township had been proclaimed as out of bounds, with the' view to preventing tho men going there to got liquor. j A party, who had no permission to leave tho camp, walked to the George's River bridge, where they were blocked by a picket numbering ten, carrying side-arms only. The pickets ordered them back. Some obeyed, but others remained, and their numbers became gradually augmented. The non-commissioned officer m charge of tho picket summoned assistance. Determined rushes were made against the picket in tho meanwhile, but it stood firm, until finally carried along for thirty yards. A relief party arrived with fixed bayonets, and advanced with their bayonets at the slope, which caused tho rebels to back away to tho other end of the bridge, where they made a stand, and challenged the relief party to come on.

The opposing parties wero within a few feet of each other, and a collision seemed imminent. A second relief party soon arrived. The Brigade-Major, Captain Bilton, who had meanwhile gone among the rebels, ordering the men to keep cool, in a commanding voice ordered them to go back, and that officer then gave the order to slope arms, which saved tho situation, as the sight of the bayo-, nets at the chargo was helping to inflame the rebels.

Captain Bilton's persuasive powers were successful, and the men returned to the lines, leaving tho armed party in command of tho bridge.
