The weather has been very showery and shearing operations have been retarded. On Friday night 85 . points were registered. On the heavier land the farmers are anxious for. some fine r weather as tho springs are beginning to rise. The dairying industry is increasing, and some suppliers to the creamery liavo an increased number", of covvs this year. During the week the Binds ra.way station has been a scene of activity. Two traction-engines and hauling plants have been engaged carting and loading chaff for Christchurch, and a considerable quantity of wool has been sent away. The Hinds traffic bridge and approaches are at last completed, as well as the training wall which has been planted with willows. The opening ceremony is expected to take place no ♦ week. The district has /been visit-ad by an epidemic of measles, and the children of many families have been laid up. The attendance at the local school has suffered in consequence.
