Mr Asquith said that tho most striking feature of tho domestic situation was the unity of their opponents in pressing for an immediate general election. Homo Rule was tho first and mast urgent step towards. a free Imperial Parliament for purely Imperial concerns. Tho Liberal policy had not been departed from sinc«l9o6. It was absolutely untrue that the Cabinet was divided on any subject. His hand had not closed any door open to a roasonable peace. Homo Rule, as a matter of right, was duo to Ireland, an.d was sanctioned as a policy by tho highest interesfs of Parliament.
