The motion was carried, all present standing. Mrs Wdleon gave a lecture on home science. Some good, sound points. made by the lecturer were that clean, wide streete aTe neoee eery foi good health, that it ia the duty of the State to provide them, and that the State does more for ite cattle-and sheep than ita children. Mrs "Wilson laid great 6trese upon the necessity of training our young women lor their future., At. the «^ lo f a number of questions were aeked. ilrs x. E. Taylor epoke strongly, .in favour of hoHio ecience training, and said for come time quite a number had been, working to bring it to some practical stage, and ehe hoped tho Aseocio-tion would take up the queetion in earnest. It waa agreed that ,tho matter be referred to the executive next month. A hearty vote of thanks wae accotded to lira Wilson for her excellent lecture. I At the monthly mocting.of the Richmond I School Committee there were present—Mr J. Burgees (chairman), and MeserS Brown, JtJuist, Christian, Christie, Pentecost, and Taylor. Tho hcadinaeter'e report showed the roll number to bo 777, with an average attendance of 696. It wee deciaed to cloeo the school oa Dcoember 19th for the Christmas . holidays. A motion of sympathy with the widow and "children of the- late Mr Q-. Laurenson was paa&ed. j-he Canterbury Jockey Club. wrote granting the use of the Riccarton racecottree for the annual picnic, to be helot on Saturday, February 14th. At the annual meeting" of the Riohmond Citizens* Association Mr J. Burgess (vice-, president) presided. Tho report stated that steady progress had been maintained, and congratulated' the members upon tho amalgamation of North Richmond, , and also upon tho initial steps having been taken to widen Stanmore road. A deputatioa consisting of Messrs. Frankly, Forrester, Butterfiald,. and Brian, representing the United xjurg-esece' Aβeociation, waited on tho meeting to place before them the aims ai\3 objects of that body. A hearty vote o" thank 3 was accorded the deputation for their attendance. The following were «kct«d officers for the year:— Mr J. Burgess, president; Mr W. Taylor, vice-president; Mr E. C. Brown, secretary and treasurer; Meeers Pentecoet, Orange, ■ Christian, Pctric, Morrow, and Lavrrenee, committee. It was resoiyed to affiliate wi?a tho TTnifed Burprcssea' ApKociation, and Messrs Burgess, Taylor, and Brown were appointed delegates.
