UNLEARNING BIBLE LESSONS.

At tho seventieth anniversary meeting of tho Church oP England Sunday School Institute it was reported that teachers had increased by 2300, but tho number of scholars in Bible-classes had decreased by five thousand. Tho Bishop of Ely, who presided, suggested that teachers to-day were inclined to neglect the plain text of our English Bible. They must cultivate tho study of tho psychology of tho child. It was no good saying to a child "Can't you sit still?" Odo might just as well say to a bishop, "Can't you fidget?" Dr. Chaso added a word of warning. "Some of us," he said, "havo undergone the experience of unlearning sacred lessons wo were onco taught. We want to save our children from that perilous experience, so we must bo very careful that we do not teach them aspects of truth which as they grow older they will have, with hesitation and sorrow, to put aside. Wo must try and adjust our teaching to those apprehensions of truth which aro the privilege and tho inheritance of our own time."
