MORE OFFENDERS PUNISHED.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TIXZGRAX.) WELLINGTON, November 27. James Denny pleaded guilty at the Police Court to-day to using obscene language when ordered out of the Royal Tiger Hotel, but urged that ho had been struck by a "special" constable. This was not borne out in evidence, and accused was fined £-5, in default one month's imprisonment. Matthew Collins, who crashed a wheelbarrow through' a plateglass window in a shop, was also ordered tp pay £5, or go to gaol for one month. Accused was a sailor on the Moana until the crew left her during the strike. Albert Power, for throwing a bottle of beer at a policeman, was sentenced to 21 days' imprisonment.
Wm. Parker was remanded for a week on a charge of taking part in the Water quay riot on October 30th. George Draper, for wheeling bricks from, a yard to be. thrown at "special" constables during the~,Featherstbn street riot, was fined £5, in default one month's imprisonment, and ordered to find sureties to keep tne i>eaoe. Sidney Claridge was fined £2 on a reduced charge of threatening behaviour. The original charge was one of taking part in a riot by throwing fireworks at special constables' horses. As he was said to be of weak intellect, the Magistrate took a lenient view of the
matter, Claridge's employer having agreed to find sureties for his behaviour.' The case of Charles Finch, sentenced previously to a month's imprisonment for assaulting a special constable, was re-heard., as counsel urged that a mistake had'been made regarding identity. The Magistrate upheld the conviction. Louis Vivian Moore was fined £4, in default 21 days' imprisonment for using obscene language.
