IN CHRISTCHURCH.
There were, as compared with Wednesday, very few mounted "special' , constables to be seen about town yesterday- : - A small patrol visited several points in'the city, but occasioned very little comment. ,A small ■detachment stationed on. Moorhouse avenue, near Colombo street, had a peaceful time.
Other indications of waning interest •was the much diminished crowd in front of the Socialist Hall. For tho past day or two fairly large crowds have congregated on the roadway there discussing■ 'strike matters whilst. the; members of the Drivers' Union held sometimes noisy conferences inside.
The unsettleinont of strike conditions has affected tramway traffic appreciably. Cars that are usually crowded have now very iight loads.
