CHARGE OF ATTEMPTED MURDER.
(PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, November 27. Having fired a revolver through a window of a room in the Nurses' Institute, where his wife was residing, Arthur Nicholson was tried at tho Supreme Court on a charge of attempted murder. There were four counts in tho indictment: —(i) Attempted murder, (2) discharging a firearm with intent to do grievous bodily harm, (3) assaulting his wife, and (4) assaulting tho matron of the institute. The jury, after deliberating for about two hours, asked to be redirected on tho question of intent. This his Honour did and the jury returned a verdict of guilty on all the four counts,, adding the strops 6B * possible recommendation to mercy on account of the provocatin received by accused. His Honour said that he agreed witn the recommendation, and would give tho case very careful consideration. He ordered Nicholson to be brought up lor sentence on Tuesday next.
