"PROFESSOR , ' MILLS AT SUMNER.
The meeting announced to be held by "Professor" W. T. Mills at Sumner last night on strike matters fell very flat. It was supposed to commence oh tho Totunda at seven o'clock, and at the hour stated there were not more than a dozen present. A few minutes afterwards a motor-car came along the esplanade with four occupants. They passed the little assemblage, Mr Mills wildly waving his hat, and the party was lost to view in the distance. Questions were then asked as to what would happen next. About ten minutes after, Mr Mills was seen approaching ana making for the meeting-place. When he began his address, the audience numbered three dozen men and half a dozen ladies. The number subsequently increased to some fifty. The audience was not very sympathetic, and after some interruptions, he said he would call another meeting and ask for police protection. Ultimately a policeman
moved him on, pointing out J e was infringing the borough by-laws .by addressing a meotinc in a prohibited place.
