NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING STILL HELD UP IN • SYDNEY. - The work on the Lyttelton wharves proceeded briskly and without disorder yesterday, and the prcsenco of special constables resulted in the maintenance of peaceful conditions in the port. During the day mounted "specials" patrolled r some of the Christcuurch streets unobtrusively, and Although two or three arrests wero mado for disorderly conduct normal conditions prevailed. The drivers' strike has practically fifczled out. From the North Island tho reports are of normal conditions and busy scenes on tho wharves. In Auckland it has been found possible to release many of tho "specials" who came in from tho country. The mosb Interesting happening, was tho decision of tho Maunganui's men .to leave thoi? ship, but the places wore filled bjr officers, and tho steamer left for Lyttelton at half-past ten o'clock. Strike matters were the subject of some further- discussion in Parliament. The Prime Minister said that any settlement would have to eafeguard tho rights of tho members of tho new unions. In Sydney, New Zealand shipping is still held up, .and it is considered possible that Australasian shipping generally may be affected. •
