A meeting of the New . Brighton Borough Council was held on Monday night. Present:.—Tho Mayor (Mr C. H. Winny),"Crs. J. Ainger, J. Ashley, O. Borgh, A. Chidgey, O. lsraelson, 6. W. Staniland, F. Kibblewhite, and C. Withell. In reply to the secretary of the - St." John Ambulance Association, it was decided to grant the Association permission to take up a. collection in the borough on Saturday, November 29 th. Letters from tho New Brighton Surf Bathing and Life-saving Club, dealing with the appointment of special constables, and the enforcement of tho bathing by-laws were received, and were referred to tho Works and By-laws Committee, with power to act.' An application from F. W. Badger, to lease the Council's re-* 6erve facing Richmond terrace, was roferred to the Reserves Committee. The Cleric of tho Heathcote County Council wrote, enclosing a copy of * tho engineer's estimates for the maintenance of Page's road.—lt was resolved that tho Borough Council could not agree to the proposals. The Finance Committee's report showed a bank overdraft to dato of £1015 15s 3d. The report was adopted. The Town Clerk reported in reference -.to the levelling of tho Esplanndo channelling that he had decided to give the channel tho vory low fall of 2 inch per chain, raising the kerb at Lonsdale ... street end six inches. During the last fortnight nine building permits had been granted of a total value of £1100. Tho Council then sat as tho Rawhiti Domain Board. Correspondence was received froni the secretary of the Church of England Bible Class Union asking for permission to hold the annual camp of members in the ■ Domain clearing during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The request was granted enb.ject to the necessary sairtary and other arrangements beinsr effected. A similar request was pfanted the officer commanding No. 75 Co. Senior Cadets, for traininc purposes as from November 29th to December 2nd.
