THE AMBULANCE CORPS.
On their way to Lyttelton the "specials" were accompanied by a "party of five men from the St. John Ambulance Corps. The men were' distributed among the difjfercpt detaebmente, but found their positions a sinecure, the .only cases' they were called on to treat being a lacerated hand sustained by a. "special" con-: stable, who was attempting to climb over a fence near the tunnel mouth at Lyttelton, [t to reach the : railway line, and those of two other minor cases, all in the foot contingent. A squad of. nine ladies from • the same corps went down to Lyttelton by the first train yesterday morning, but. finding that there was no call on their services, they returned in the afternoon. Until the present trouble is settled a squad of four ambulance men will be kept in Lyttelton at the ambulance depot at the Fire Brigade Station. i -.
