JOTTINGS FOR FARMERS.
Lately a good deal of attention has been directed to bee culture as a profitable industry, and an apiary on a very largo scale has been started in Temuka and surrounding districts by Mr H. A. They have already five apiaries—one at Mr Pcarce's farm at Waitohi, one on Mr G: Cartwright s p operty at Milford, a third at Milford, a fourth at Clandeboye, and a fifth at Winchester.
The general committee of the Ellesmero A. and P. Association met at Leeston on Friday, Mr H. E. Finchan. (president) presiding. The sum of hA 3s was voted to Mr L. Oppenheim for clerical assistance rendered in connexion with the Show. Objection was taken to the shield for .two-year-old draught horse having been awarded to an exhibitor who had not bred the winning horse. The matter was referred to the Draught Horse Committee to report upon at next meeting.
