PROBABLE CANDIDATES.
It is reported th-t Dr. Thacker, \r_o contested the seat several years ago, is likely to bo a candidate for Lytt_?ton. It is not known in what m- / £-' terest ho will stand, though Che probabilities aro that ho will stand cither as a Liberal or an Independent. Dr. Thacker has been in indifferent health for somo time, but is now reported to bo completely recovered. He is at present on the Peninsula, and is expected back in town to-morrow. Tho names of Messrs. J««. McCombs. . D G. Sullivan, and H. R. Vovco (of the Lyttelton Watersiders' Union) aro mentioned as probable candidates in the interests of tho Social Democratic Party.
Mr _L Radchffo intends to offer him- « , a ,f„ the pPPosaion candidate. Mr liadoliffo, who carries on tho business of house-painter and undertaker has been Mayor of Lyttelton several times and is at present a member of the Council. Ho contested the seat unsuccessfully in the Liberal interest in 1903 against Mr Laurenson and two others.
