Nominations for tho Now Brighton' Trotting Club's Summer Meeting close to-morrow evening. Nominations for thc Rakaia Racing Club's Annual Meeting close on Thursday. R. Berry will ride Gold Coin in the Summer Cup at the South Canterbury Meeting, and L. G. King will have the mount on My Lawyer.
Scotch Melody has been recommissioned by M. Hobbs, and appears to have benefited considerably as a result of her spell. The Seer, who is now ..something like twelve years old, is bowling along in good style on the Riccarton tracks, and has shown that he can etill muster up a good burst of speed. R. Emerson has an addition to his team in the shape of a three-year-old brown gelding by Curassow, but the name of the dam is not known. Nithsdale is at present enjoying a run in tho paddock. The hurdler Umeraboy has joined TV. McDonaldl's stable at Riccarton. Thc chestnut gelding should run well in the hurdle events at the South' Canterbury Meeting, and will be ridden by L. Hegarty.
. The bay gelding Obligato is now being trained by G. Fuller, at Riccarton.
At the Inangahua Trotting Club's Meeting last week the sum of £4671 was put through the totalisator, an increase of £769 as compared with last year's figures.
Pilgrim's Way injured his fetlock recently, and it is stated that tho injury is of such a nature as to suggest that he will raced again. The Pilgrim's Progress horse has been a consistent stake-earner, and should do well if put to the stud.
A Press Association message from Feilding states that the racing mare Our Queen broke her fetlock while exercising yesterday morning. She was entered for the Flying Handicap and thc Oroua Stakes at the Feilding J.C.s Spring Meeting. The mare will be kept for breeding.
A Pivss Association message from Auckland states that Kooya was scratched for all engagements at the Auckland R.C.s Summer Meeting at 9 a.m. yesterday, and Tact for tlie Railway Handicap at 12.10 p.m. Fire ("od, the smart two-year-old trained by G. J. Pino, has been showing signs of soreness, and is being treated to a spell. Tho three-year-old filly by Martian —Rosiphele in the same stable contracted influenza recently, necessitating her being thrown out of work.
Stardancer will probably carry Mr C. G. l>algety*G colours in the Railway Handicap, to be decided at the Auckland Summer while Warstep will contest the Derby and weight-for-age events. Marsa will also bo taken North, and will be a starter in the two-year-old events.
A large number of horses will be sent South this morning to assist at fclie South Canterbury Jockey Club's Meet-, ing which will be held to-morrow and Thursday. The Riccarton contingent represents a very fair class, and should play a prominent part in the decision of a number of events.
