MEETINGS AND SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

At tho monthly meeting of tlie Addington Burgesses' Association, Mr H. Campbell was in the chair. Correspondence was received from the City Council, stating that it was prepared to subsidise money raised locally £1 for -1, for a Band Rotunda. Mr Sheldon gave his report on the annual meeting of the United Burgesses' Association. It was decided to withdraw from the United Burgesses' Association, as it was thought that more good.could be done by the Association directing its energies to local affairs. A letter wss received from Messrs Wood Bros., stating that nothing definite could be done regarding converting one of their buildings into a public hall for Addington till the return of Mr Henry Wood. Mr R. Richards was elected a member of the Association.
