THE COST OF LIVING.
HIGHER IN AMERICA THAN IN- ,. ENGLAND. ■ ("T__ea"-Sydney "Sun" Special Cable.) WASHINGTON, November 23. Official figures show that the retail prices of twelve out of tho fifteen principal articles of food in America have increased by 66 per cent, during tbe past fourteen years. The increases have been partly due to natural causes and partly to artificial stimulation. In order to meet the latter, the Housewives' Association is advocating the establisoment of publio markets and co-operative stores. The cost of living in America is onethird higher than in Great Britain.
