(TROJI Oint OWN CORRESPONDENT.) LONDON, October 17. N-ow Zealanders who have just joined the Royal Colonial Institute as Fellows are:—Mr John H. Dean, Mr Gerhard; H. Engels, and Mr Percy J. Overton. The position attained by Mr ,H. D. Gillies in the French golf contest en-, titled him to receive a piece of plate as a prize. This he has decided not take, as he is an amateur player. Two more Oxford Freshmen ar^'Old 1 Boys" of Wanganui College—R. combe Brown, who has gone to Oriel, and J. L. V. Sukuna, who has gone to Wadhain. One of the passengers booked to Australia and New Zealand by the next trip of the Orient steamer Orsova is the Right Rev. Bishop Grimes, who has been on the Continent for some weeks. Lord Islington left London this week, travelling overland to Marseilles to joiu tie P. and 0. s.s. Arabia. He is on his way to India in connexion with the work of the Royal Commission of which he is chairman. Nurse Minnall. who is on board the Arawa in charge of a party of domestic servants for New Zealand, will ultimately be attached to the staff of the Auckland Hospital. Nurse Ratcliff, who is in part charge of the party, will also settle in New Zealand. For more than thirty years Mr E. D. Bacon has been a prominent figure in the philatelic world. He has just been appointed curator of the King's stamp collections and philatelic secretary to his Majesty—posts formerly held by Mr J. A. Tilleard, M.V.O. As a friend and associate of the late Mr T. K. Tapling, Mr Bacon was entrusted with the arrangement of the famous Tapling collection of postage stamps in the British Museum. Later ho acted for some years as philatelic secretary to the late Earl of Crawford, of whose vast collections and philatelic library he had entire charge. Mr Bacon is going to New York almost immediately as one of the English representatives on the international jury of the stamp exhibition to be held there.
