Dean Carrington returned on Saturday from the North. • Captain Meddirigs left for Wellington on Saturday night. Mr Mark Cohen, of Dunedin, waa a passenger ior Wellington by Saturday night's ferry steamer. The Rev. Mr Dowsbury was among Saturday morning's arrivals from Wellington. Captain Colin Macdonajd, vho has been superintending the building of vessels in tho Old Country for the Union Steam Shin Company, returned--to the Dominion by the Jlakura. The Hon. G. J. Smith, Hon. J. Anstey, Hon. J. T. Paul, Hon. J. But. Hon. C. A. O. Hardy, M.L.C. :>,-> and the Hon. D. Buddo and Mr L. M. Isitt, M.F:'sr arrived from Wellington by Saturday morning's steamer. At a meeting of the Ashburton St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church congregation, held on Friday evening, and presided over by the Rev. W. T. Todd. Moderator, tho Rev. Geo. Miller, of Milton, was invited to become pastor of tho church, in place of the Roy. G. B. Icglis, resigned. Mr S. J. Campbell, who for the past twelve months has been doing mission work in the South Canterbury country, districts, has received word from the Rev. Dr. Gibb, of Wellington, etating that tho committee has decided to transfer Mr Campbell -to Danncvirke district. Mr Campbell leaves Timaru on December 3rd. Mr W. S. Percy, of tho Williamson Comic Opera Company, left Sydney last week for Vancouver. Accompanied by his wife, 3lr Percy intends i» tour through Canada and on his way to London, Paris, Berlin, and Vienna. "I am going away, for a holiday, and nothing more." he eaid. "This is tho.first holiday I have luul in my life. 'I expect to be back on tho Australasian stage in twelve months. -I specially want to ccc the London pantomimes."
