THE LAND PROPOSALS

Mr Lloyd George, who attended the Oxford Union debate, was greeted on arrival with a shower of turnips, ■which smashed a window in his motorcar. The thrower was arrested.
Many members of the Union accorded the Chancellor an ovation for his - speech dealing "with the land problem, and a resolution condemning the Government's land proposals was rejected by 654 rotes to 586. Tho result is considered a personal triumph for Mr Lloyd George.
