Orpheus who from tho dreary shades. Eurydico would lead to light, Jason who in gold fleeces trades, The King who robbed Mmself of eight, Before our England came to birth, . Or found a place among tho nations, Were famous 'mong- the eons of earth, / Had pleased- uncounted generations. ■Who hae not heard of Guenivcre, Gawain, and Bors, and Lancelot, ' Of Galahad, the youth Austere, And Arthur King of Camolot? Or coming , to a> later day When good- Queen Bess the reins wae holding, v Who knows not Beatrice the gay, Sweet Rosalind, and Katharine scolding? They press and throng upon tho mind, They come from ©very clime and. region, Good, bad, indifferent, cruel, kind,' In every class their-name is Legion. Among them all-a foremost place - "My unclo Toby" claims, and "ToTici," And honest "Trim" lifts up a face Hoi© real than many a phiz historic.
