JOTTINGS FOR FARMERS

Peninsula farmers are complaining that tlie cows are not milking so well as they should at the present time, in spite of the fact that thero is fin abundance of grass. This is due to too much rain and fog. Sunshiae is badly wanted at present. As showing the demand that exists from abroad for New Zealand purebred stock, and of-Southland stock in particular, the "Southland Times" mentions that the trustees in .the estate of the late James Holmes, of Waimahaka, have recently disposed of the following —For Patagonia, sixty-two two-tooth flock Romney Marsh rams; for Chili, fourteen stud rams; for North Argentine, six stud rams, four ewes, and eight lambs; for the Falkland Islands, six stud rams; for Buenos Ayroe, oight stud rams; for Chili, thirty stud rams; for North Argentine, four Hereford bulls and two Hereford heifers. Tho consignment for Patagonia has already boon forwarded, and the others will bo sent on shortly.

Ac a meeting of the general committee of tho Temuka A. and P. Association a donation of £2 2s was made to the Temuka Technical School. Mr Cartwright was appointed to represent the Association on the Technical School Board. It ■ was decided to' have the Temuka and Geraldino A. and P. Association incorporated under the Act. The date of the next annual show was fixed for April 2nd. The following committees were appointed:—Sheep: Messrs Tarbottom, McLeod, Brosnahan, and Cain. Draught Horses: Messrs H. W. Bell, J. Patterson, C. Austin, G. Ward, and A. Russel. Light Horses: Messrs W. Bruce, P. Waring, D. C. Lewis, J. Kennedy, A. W. Robertson, W; Payne, R., A. Dixon, and A. G. McDonald. Pigs and Cattle: Messrs A. Bain, A. Shaw, D. Grant, and H. Bell. Fruit, Roots, and Produce: Messrs R. McCaulay, P. Talbot, A. W. Ensor, G. B. Cartwright. Dogs: Messsrs A. P. McCallum, and A. Guild. Miscellaneous : Messrs R. Maddern and G. W. Armitage. . It was decided to revise the different sections of the schedule and report at next meeting of the general committee. It was resolved to apply to the Winchester Domain Board for permission to erect a shed at a cost of £GO, with right of removal at any time.
