REDUCED TRAMWAY SERVICE.

(special to "thb press.") WELLINGTON, November 19. One effect of the strike has be«i a considerable shrinkage of tramway traffic, and a corresponding decline of revenue; therefore, the management is being obliged to economise in every reasonable manner. Tho Mayor (Mr J. P. Luke) said to-day that a"reduced service would begin to-morrow for tho slack hours of the day. At these quiet times tho trips would- be at fifteen minute intervals instead of ten minutes, but the ordinary time-table would be maintained during the "rush" hours. The staff would not be lessened, and the work would be distributed on a fair basis. Of course, concluded Mr Luke, those men who had been earning extra moacy by overtime would not have the same "scope till normal times returned.
