ATTITUDE OF METHODIST SYNOD.
The following motion was carried by the North Canterbury Methodist Synod at its evening session yesterday :s----"That this Synod hereby expresses its grave concern at the present industrial crisis in the Dominion. ??e sympathise with all legitimate attempts which nave been, and are being mafic. for the promotion of social and economic justice. >v hilo expressing no opinion on the merits of the strike now existing, we think that this resciettable conflict might have been ended wfore this had a more conciliatory spirit been shown by both parties. In view of the widespread suffering and loss sustained by the community at large, and tho resultant legacy of bitterness and hatred, we would strongly urge that Parliament and the responsiole leaders ot both sides of the struggle, should take prompt and energetic steps to arrive at a satisfactory and honourable settlement, based upon the principle of equity and mutual consideration."
