A CALL FOR SPECIAL CONSTABLES.

ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE

MAYOR.

In our advertising columns this morning the Mayor of Christchurch publishes, tho following:— "Evidence having been given upon oath that owing to the existing Industrial Dispute, fears are entertained that serious disturbances of a tumultuous and riotous nature may bo reasonably apprehended, I hereby call upon citizens and others to offer themselves for service as Special Constables to assist in preserving the public peace and, for tho protection of tho inhabitants and the security of property within the City of Christchurch. "Those persons willing to serve are requested to present themselves without delay at the Show Grounds, Lincoln road, to bo sworn-in."
