Mr Arthur Henry Adams, a New Zealander, and well-known writer, won the prize of £100 offered by the firm of Farmers, Limited, for an Australian national song. There were 772 competitors. The judges were Professor MacCaLum, of Sydney, and Professor Tucker, of Melbourne University.
