The Lord Mayor gave evidenco that tramway fares wero a vital factor in connexion with dwellings in tho suburbs. The fares ought to be fixed at a halfpenny a mile. If ten thousand cottages were provided, it would be possible to squeezo out the owners of the worst tenements. In the Mountipy Ward there were 2600 families each living in one room, and 1145 families in two rooms each.
