TRAMWAY EXTENSION.
TO THB EDITOB OF "TUB PKESS."
Sir, —Now , that certain proposals for the extension of the tramways are i» bo made, I ask you to let those ■©f us trho reside on Hackthorne road and alone the foot of the hills have* space to urge our claim for the completion of the tin*? to the bottom of Huckthorne road. Various efforts haye already been 'made by certain residents, who have stated a fair case to the Tramway Board, and 1 as we have to pay for three full sections to the present terminus, whereas we only ridte two and a_ fraction, the appeal for the extension is only a reasonable one. Not to residents of Oashmere Hills only, but to many others who indulge in hill -walking, the Hackthorne road route is a rrmch easier grade than Dyer's Pass, an<l the advantages generally are obvious. The material, road-, and: survey are not of great expense, and when considered! by the Board, we hopo our claim for the extension will be decided on its true merits.—Yours, etc., *jl HACKTHORNE.
