THE WILLIAMSON MUSICAL COMEDY COMPANY.
To-night, at the Theatre Royal, Mr J. C. Williamson's Musical Comedy Company will inaugurate their season with "The Red Mill," a Dutch musical comedy, which is highly spoken, of. The play is written in two acts. In the first is seen a quaint old world Dutch town of fho Scheldt, with the Red Mill, an, historical landmark. Tho mill playe an important part in the finale of the first act, as the lovers escape by clinging to one of the revolving sails. The second act is said to be a charming set in blue Delft, the dresses and mountings being harmonised in colour. Mr John Ford, a comedian and eccentric dancer, Mr Charles Loder, a Dutch dialect comedian, and Mr Edward Sherras, an English baritone, will make their first appearance to-night. In addition, Meesrs Fred Leslie, Pat. Bathurst, and Percy Denton will renew their acquaintance with Christchurch playgoers. Miss Mario Eaton is a soprano of whom favourable reports aro given, and Misses Olive Godwin and Ivy Scott are we!l-known favourites hero. Thero is a strong orchestra under Mr Alfred Moulton, and an efficient chorus and corps de ballet. "The Red Mill" will be pla-yed for four nights, and will bo succeeded by "The Prince of Pilson," another piece new here. The plan of reserved seats for the twelve nights of tho season is now open at Milner and Thompson's.
