(Received January 29th, 11.16 p.m.) Mr McKenna, First Lord of tho Admiralty, speaking at the Fishmonger-' Hall, made a strong pronouncement of the Government's determination to fulfil Mr Asquith's pledge to fully, maintain the relative superiority of tho Fleet. v
Mr Asquith has pledged tho Government to Keep the Navy stronger by 10 per cent, than the combined strengths of the next two strongest Power*... No Power is to be excepted. Qua*- * tiona by "Little Englanders" h_Te failed to obtain any modification of this pledge. Mr MoKenna, before ho took over tho Admiralty, was euspenbed of being a ''small Navy" man, and bis appointment was not well received outside hie party.
