GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS.

(BY OUR COMM-RCIAL editor.)

Friday i_v_ning. Messrs Weddel and Co., writing lrom .London on Deoomber 18th, say that the market for oats generally is weaker, with only a very poor demand. Good Canadians, Cartons, and -tparrowbills aro quoted at _3s 6d to 24s 6d per 3S4lb ; Dun-,' at _1_ to 2_s per 3301b ; J>ani_h, at 16s to 17s per 3201b. In peas there is only _ quiet trade, and values remain unchanged. New Zealand nnd Tasmanian Maples are worth 40s to 445, and Victorian Duns aro nominally worth 34s to 35s per 5041b. Tho Turakina brought 313G backs of oats and 72 sacks of seed. Beyond sales of oats there is nothing doing in new grain. No fresh transactions in wheat are reported, and 'buyers of barley are still holding off. There is a fair demand for feed oats at Is 3d at country stations, and at this figure 1500 bushels of Gortons and 800 bushels of Duns have been taken. Ryegrass seed is offering freely, hut buyers are not keen to do business. In view of the plentiful growth of grass this season it is not anticipated that there will bo anything like the quantity of seed roquired for autumn and spring sowing as was the case last year.
