Mr Walter J. Blundell, eldest son of the stnior partner in tne "Evening Post" proprietorship, was married at Wellington yeeterdav to Miss ivy i»arraud, a daughter of the manager of the Hutt Branch of the Bank of New Zealand. The combined stalls of the "Post" made the young couple a suutaoie wedding gift. . Mr N. KrukotF (Russian Government agricultural representative), Mr W. Baldwin. Mr P. Patuiio, and Mr C. J. Newell went south by t»nc express yesterday morning. Mr Fotheringham, .Mr J. B. Jackson, and the iiev. R. I±. B. Simpson and Mrs Simpson axe at present in town. Rbcivnt callers at tho Tourist Office include Mr T. Wilkie (Wanganui), Mr H. J. Cat hoi (-Nlt.'Jbourr.e), .Ur O. J. Bainbridge (London), and Professor Maclaurin (Wellington). Mr J. Tho Rev. H. T. Purchns, M.A., who during the last rear has been acting ea assistant to the "Lean of Chrietchurch to tne Cathedral, has accepted the post of as-sistant-prieit to the Yen. Archdeacon Scott in tho large and important parish of St. Saviour's, Sydenham.' Mr Purchas will also in the following month take up the work of editor of '"The New Zealand Church News." It is understood tnat, Mr R. W. Chapman, of Lowland Leas, who in selling his estate, will probably go to the Argentine. Mr and Mrs Harrison Jones, Mr Bouxke, Mr Robe Turnbull, Mr i>. D. Macfarlane, Mr Loughnan, ilr Berryman, Mr J. McIlraith, Mr and Mars AicUill, Dr. and Mrs Kenny, Professor Soott, Mr Smithson, Mr and Mrs Hay, Messrs Alleston (2), Mr Wm, Evans (Timaru), mi and Mrs S. Wilson (Dunedin), and Mr J. Morton, jun., arrived in town yesterday. Dr. McGregor was a passenger by the Rotomahana, which left Wellington for Lyttelton yesterday evening. Mr H. B. Kirk, M-A., assistant inspector of native schools, lias been appointed professor of biot.ogy at the Victoria College at a salary of £700 per annum.
