LYTTELTON.
The Lyttelton Borough Council met last] night. Present-'-The Mayor, and Crs. j Webb. Brown, Radcliffe, Kay. Smith, I Whitby, and Garravd. Tin? Finance Committee reported receipts £508 9s 6d, and recommended for payment accounts amounting to £563 10s Id; The accounts now stand—General account, debit, £532 lis; waterworks loan account, credit, £13 19e 6d: gasworks Joart account, credit, £1444 13s; and drainage loan account, credit, £1855 14s 9d. The inspector of nuisances reported what had been done in the extension of underground drains. His house inspection had been satisfactory with the exception of two houses, on the owners of which he had served the necessary notices. The report was adopted. I'he Works Committee recommended that an application from Mr J. T. Norton, for increased stabling accommodation, should be granted. The report was adopted. The Mayor and Crs. Radcliffe and Webb were appointed a committee to meet the reprc. senUtrves of the Charitable Aid Board with reference to the erection of a stone wall at the Orphanage. The Town Clerk was instructed to take legal proceedings against several defaulters ih respect of rates. The Town Uerk laid on the table the valuation roll for tliis year, amounting to £26,765, an increase of £1549 on tlie last year.
