m SYDENHAM. The Sydenham! Borough Council met last night, when there were present the Mayor (Mr J. B. Sim), and Crs. Forrester, Bowden, Jones, Miller, McMeekan, Johnson, Clifford, Hadfield, Smiui, Webb, and Parsons. Tfie City Town Clerk wrote with reference to the nuisance caused' by the sealed pans being allowed to stand in trucks during the day near the Colombo street crossing,.Btating that the City Council had instructed its surveyor to see that every care was taken, and that prompt delivery of the pans was assured. The writer also enclosed copy of a memorandum from one of the railway officials, who gave it as his opinion that "iie persons complaining took empty pans for the full.ones. To remove all ground for complaint he would be glad if the City Council would give instructions to their men to take away all empties during the night in future. Cr. Forrester, in moving thai tne letter be received, stated that the trucks were now stationed away from the crossing, nearer to the goods sheds. The motion was seconded and) carried. The City Town Clerk wrote advising that the City Council had passed a resolution agreeing to assist in the sinking of the deep well in Sydenham.- The letter was received, and it was decided to supply certain information asked for. The secretary of the Sydenham and Addington Cricket iClub wrote asking that the playing portion of Sydenham Park might be top dressed as early as possible alter the close of the season, dn order that senior matches might be played on the ground during next season. The* letter was received, and referred to the Reserves Committee. The Works and Reserves Committee recommended that applications from the Addington Football iClub, and the Sydenham Football Club, for the use of football grounds in Sydenham Park should be granted. The Committee also recommended that an offer of Messrs T. and W. Belcher to sell land for widening Campbell st/reet, and for extending Wakefield street to Austen street, at the' rate of £200 per acre, be accepted. The Finance Committee reported that during the last fortnight the receipts had amounted to £780 2s Id. £665 6s 9d was recommended for payment. The separate account was £1027 & lid in credit, the interest account £1345 0s lid, and the loans account £3001 0s 4d, making a total credit of £5373 10s 2d. The general account -was £5190 6s lOd in debit. The Fire Preven-
tion Committee, in their report, recommended that Messrs Booth, Macdonald and Co. be asked to Temove the firebell and tower to the new fire brigade station, and that the electrical fire alarms be connected with the new station. The reports were adopted.
