Tho heavy man of Thursday niahlt, and the consequent rise in the Bu'ilerßivor, prevented severaJ of tine dredges from washing up; a.nd the misfortune to i ♦ho Pactolua Company's machines, and toe | continued low returns from tho Grecnsitono dredges, were 'the principal contributory causes of the small returns. The Mosquito Company got 6Goz tor 1.0 houra' work. The machine is working on the poorer side, but is now on the return cut. The North Beaah Company obtained 48oz. Stmo time was lost in altering; otherwise the returns would ha-vo beon better. ' Tho Prince of Wales Compiny got 450z 6 dvrt for 125 hours' work. The gTound continues to increase in richness, and larger yields are expected. The Ca-Hagbam's Creek Company a return wsw» 31oz lldwt for 125 hours' work. lha dredge is now through tho silt, and on good dredging ground. . ' , The Erickson's Reward Company, got 340z ldwt The wash is looking good for sami'lar, if not » better return, for some -tame. The Duller Junotion Company's dredge stopped work on Thursday through flood. The Greenstone Three, Mile Company s return was 250b lor 70 hours' work. The dredge was stopped for the remainder of time on account of flood. The Blackwuter River Company got 20oz 4dwt for the week. The machine has now a good face the wash is deepening, and tho gold becoming coarser. The machinery is however, not working very well alt present. A* great deal of inlterest is taken in thts dredse and that of the Bkckwater Lagoona Ccropany. The country being, new and faarly extensive, botih claims are now improving. The Greenstone Creek Company s dredge got ICoz Sdwt for about two weeks run, mostly oh worked ground. The Greenstone Junction Company got 17oz 17dwt for 129 hours. A very much better return was expected, butt a thick layer of silt was struck. , . The Cconmissioner is Flait Company is experiencing difficulty in keeping water aibout The Leviathan Company got lOoz 4dwt for the week. The prospects are not encouraging, although « rich patdh may bo struck any C a The Grey River Extended dredge has started work again up towards *he fall, but is Eetting very HWle gold. The Shellback Company's dredge js repairing, and is likely to get a start on Tuesday or Wednesday. ,„i^. Tie Victory Company obtained 13oz 13<*w4. Much improvement is not considered Cukely, | aa the quantity of wash is limited. ~ The Sboney find Mosquito Leads Oompany s dredge was delayed considerably repairing and strengthening the machirnery. A return of 17oz 15aVt for 54 hours' work is reported. The Aiding* Company got 20oz 17dwt for 127 hours' woTk. The average deptih is from 10 to 27ft. The dredge will be on solid ground next week. , , The Padtolus Company's No. 1 dredge has not yet been raised. The timbers of ponltloons are worse than was expected. The machinery will also require a thorough overhaul. Tho dredge is not likely to get a start for a mornth.
