CANTERBURY CRICKET ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Committee oi tne v.anterbury Cricket Association was held on Saturday night. Presenter Arthur •E. G. Rhodes (chairman), Hon. h. O. J. Stevens, Messrs J. 0. Jameson. J. D. Lawrence, T. W. tteese. C. W. Garrard, F. C. Raphael, O. Caygill, and R. VincentIt was decided to reply to Mr H. C. Ridley that provided Mr Callaway applied, the Association would pay him his out-of-pocket expenses in connection with tne match against Lord Hawke's team, amounting to 30s. The treasurer presented an approximate i balance-sheet of the match against the | English team. It showed that- the receipts, after deducting the approximate amount due to tho Lancaster Park Company, £215 los 4d, were £591 18s B<f; and the expenditure £312 15s 4d. leaving a credit balance (approximate) £279 os"4d. It was decided to vote two guineas each to the ground men at Lancaster Park and at Hagley Part Mr Raphael referred to the necessity for a better scoring board at Lancaster Park, and sakl that in view of the support given by the public in the recent match against Lord Hawke's team the Association should take steps to facilitate the public obtaining imfornv.tioi- as important matches progressed. Tifc Chairman said the one and only complaint he had -card in connection with the match from visitors to the ground was that they could not read tho information on the "scoring board. If they were to have good matches a better scoring boai_ was .necessary. ' Mr Caygill thought that if possible nn attempt should be made to get a new board, in time for tha New Zealand ma^.h. condition ihat the New Zealand Cricket Council and the Lancaster Park Company provided the renoainder. A mib-co_r_in-_.ee, consisting of Messrs Caygill, Garrard, and Raphael, was appointed to report, on the maxter. A hearty vot« of thanks was accorded the Advertising committee in connection wita the Lord Hawke's team match. A - letter from Mr R. Spencer, dealing with' the incident which occurred on the third days play against Lord Hawke's team, was considered in committee. After discussion it was decided to reply the Mr Spencer that the rules made provision for cases of misconduct by players. _._t_ Chairman said that it had come to bis knowledge that outsiders were stating that -tlr J)'. Waymouth's letter with regard to ifadms not playing in the New Zealand match, had been handed to the newspapers by himself, or Mr Raphael, or some other .member of the Council. He wished to give an emphatic denial to the statemWt, as no member of the Council or tho Association had forwarded the letter to tha papers. Accounts amounting to £82 15s lOd were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
